Virtual Background FAQ
Everything you need to know about using virtual backgrounds for Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
Getting Started
What is a virtual background?
A virtual background is a digital image you upload to your video conferencing platform that replaces whatever is physically behind you on camera. Instead of showing your real background, the platform displays your chosen image, making it look like you're sitting in front of a professional office, a living room, or any other space.
What platforms do your backgrounds work with?
All backgrounds from Zoom Background Hub are compatible with:
- Zoom
- Microsoft Teams
- Google Meet
- Webex
- Most other major video conferencing platforms
Do I need a green screen?
No. All our backgrounds are designed to work without a green screen. A green screen can improve edge detection on older devices or in challenging lighting, but the majority of our customers use our backgrounds without one.

Quality & Compatibility
Why do your backgrounds look more realistic than others?
We specifically select and test backgrounds for how they render on real video calls – not just how they look as static images. We prioritize natural lighting, believable depth, and compositions that work well for professional and business settings. Every background is tested before it's added to our store.
Who are these backgrounds designed for?
Our backgrounds are used by business professionals, executives, remote workers, consultants, coaches, therapists, counselors, real estate agents, teachers, webinar leaders, sales professionals, lawyers, and anyone who wants to look professional on a video call, but doesn't like their current home office background.
Where are your backgrounds made?
Zoom Background Hub is based in the United States. All backgrounds are designed and curated in the US.
Will these work on an older computer?
Virtual backgrounds require a small amount of processing power. Most modern computers handle them without issue. On older machines, if you're having issues, close other applications before your call to help.
